Join the UCity Homes Community
This website has been a couple of years in the planning.
I created my first real estate website a little over 2 years ago. I added a blog within a few months. I quickly realized that blogs were a perfect fit for me and my main website has evolved from a template site and a separate blog to a full blogsite. I just launched the new and improved version of Arch City Homes last month. Now that it is up and running, I got to thinking again about my plan to create a site for University City.
I actually bought the domain name for this site over a year ago, but I’ve had so many projects that this site just always seemed to sit on the back burner.
I’m actually glad I didn’t launch it when I first came up with the idea, because my goal for the site has radically changed in the last few months.
Bringing Community Together:
When I first started working on websites, I spent a lot of time looking at all of the other sites that real estate agents were using. I noticed right away that most of them were a hard sales pitch, and offered canned material masked as buyer and seller information.
As a resident of University City, I knew that UCity has a vibrant community of committed residents and I expected to find a website about the city that covered its people and events.
I was wrong.
There really isn’t a decent website covering UCity. I do think that the city has a great municipal website, and The Loop business association has done a fabulous job of promoting their business district. But there is nothing out there that gives a voice to residents. There isn’t a site that tries to bring people together to share the essence of the community.
This site is a first step towards making that happen. I have a few ideas up my sleeve of where I think this site could eventually go, but let’s start one step at a time.
Open Invitation to UCity Residents & Friends:
I really don’t want this site to be a monologue by your resident real estate agent, Karen Goodman (that’s me!).
I will certainly do my fair share of gathering information about the community and sharing it here. I love taking pictures and am discovering video, though I’m not a professional photographer or videographer, so I hope you’ll bear with me as I share my amateur shots.
I want this site to be a place where we talk about upcoming events, city issues and capture the flavor of our community. I want to give some attention to our wonderful businesses and introduce you to your neighbors.
And since my specialty is real estate, I’m make sure that you are aware of housing trends that are affecting University City neighborhoods too.
But the goal really isn’t for me to tell you all about UCity. The goal is to create a place where we come together as a community. Whether you like to write, take pictures or video, take a look at the Participate page to find out how to become part of this community.
